Prairie Dropseed
(Sporobolus heterolepis)
Dominant in mesic and dry prairies, this is a short grass with thin long blades that “weep” in bunches. Color changes from an emerald green in summer to a distinct golden brown in fall. Looks great planted with low growing forbs such as butterfly weed.
